Whatever happened to Spuds MacKenzie?

Spuds was Budweiser's mascot in the late '80s. Known as the "original party dog," Spuds liked two things -- beautiful women and the King of Beers. Alas, given Spuds was popular 20 years ago, it shouldn't come as a shock that the pooch is no longer hosting keggers.

According to several sources, Spuds passed away in 1993 of kidney failure. But don't feel too bad -- despite a short 10 years on earth, Spuds led quite a life. The bull terrier appeared in commercials, modeled for posters, and advanced the popularity of his breed immeasurably. All this despite being forced to live a lie that shocked the world when exposed.

You see, Spuds was actually a female. Gasp! Once word broke, it caused a bit of a scandal, but did little to stop Spuds' popularity. Eventually, Spuds (real name: "Honey Tree Evil Eye") retired from pitching alcohol. She lived her final years in Illinois with her owners. R.I.P., Spuds. You taught us how to party.
