Coming home from another typical day of school, I avoided my homework at all costs with
meaningless online conversations. My day’s procrastination, however, ended up being how I met
my girlfriend. I usually ignore chatroom invitations, but found myself in a more cooperative
mood than my usual antisocial self. As the conversation went on, I became more and more
interested in her. She complains that it was not romantic enough of a first meeting, but that sort
of lovey-dovey mush never really mattered much to guys anyway. Not that nothing matters to us.
There are all sorts of qualities we look for when choosing a girlfriend so that our relationships
might be lighter. THE NICHOLAS SPARKS THEORY With an entire year of dating, I have not
come to hate a writer more than I hate Nicholas Sparks. The famous author of countless love
novels like A Walk to Remember and The Notebook has provided the ultimate form of
entertainment for young teenage girls waiting to fall in love. To us boys, however, he was not so
kind. By creating these stories, he has also created an image of the perfect Romeo that will
sweep each of his readers off of her feet. As a boyfriend to one of his loyal fans, I could not help
but feel pathetic when my efforts of romanticism crashed and burned. Before you start the
relationship, be sure to lower your expectations. It will benefit the both of you! When the guy
makes a mistake, it will not be as disappointing, and when he does well, it will be appreciated
more.
